The U.S. Postal Service is hiring for the following positions in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach:
Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) – At $20.28 per hour, an RCA will have a continuous, part-time job. This on-call position could be ideal if one is retired, self-employed, an at-home parent, an educator, night student, or if employed on an evening shift schedule.
An RCA serves families and businesses in rural and suburban areas. This employee is responsible for the delivery and collection of mail, working part-time when regular carriers have scheduled days off or vacation days. An RCA also sells stamps, supplies, and money orders.
An applicant must have a valid state driver’s license and demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record. A personal vehicle may be required. Becoming an RCA is the first step to becoming a full-time, regular rural carrier with full benefits.
Postal Support Employee (PSE) – There are two types of Postal Support Employees, namely PSE Sales and Services/Distribution Associate and PSE Mail Processing Clerk. Each position pays $20.48 per hour.
A PSE Sales and Services/Distribution Associate performs a variety of sales and customer support services. The job primarily involves providing services to customers over the retail counter at the Post Office. This employee will greet and assist customers in matching their mailing and shipping needs with postal products and services, as well as arranging attractive product displays and maintaining lobby appearance. Passport acceptance duties may be part of the job, If you enjoy working regularly with the public and you don’t mind prolonged standing, this may be an excellent fit for you.
A PSE Mail Processing Clerk provides a variety of clerk duties required to process mail on automated mail processing equipment This position may involve lifting or carrying moderate to heavy mail and packages and prolonged standing. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, safe environment with occasional interaction with the public, this could be the right job for you.
Mail Handler Assistant (MHA)
A Mail Handler Assistant is paid $18.62 per hour. Job duties including loading, lifting, and carrying moderate to heavy mail to and from a truck and sorting equipment, operating machines and carrying mail to a distribution area. Automotive Technician – Starting Annual Salary: $62,681
In this role, an employee will perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles in the postal fleet. Job duties will include performing various operational checks on engines, major supporting systems, parts and components; performing various computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment; preparing and updating vehicle records, annotating labor time, and managing work orders; and conducting visual and auditory vehicle inspections, road calls, and road tests.
Laborer Custodial – Starting Annual Salary: $43,779
A Laborer Custodial employee will perform manual labor in connection with maintenance and the cleaning of buildings and grounds of a postal facility. Duties include performing janitorial duties such as cleaning, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors; caring for lawns and shrubs; cleaning sidewalks and driveways; operating a variety of power-driven equipment such as floor scrubbers, floor sanders, waxers, and wall washers; stacking supplies in storage rooms and on shelves; and moving furniture and equipment.
Maintenance Mechanic – Starting Annual Salary: $55,853
Duties will include performing maintenance and routine repairs such as plumbing, heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning; performing maintenance and routine repairs on simple control circuitry, bearings, chains, motors, belts, and other parts of equipment; assembling, installing, replacing, repairing, modifying, or adjusting small operating equipment; and performing tasks related to disassembling equipment, replacing parts, relocating, and reassembling equipment.
Maintenance Technician – Starting Annual Salary: $70,079
This employee independently performs semiskilled preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of various types of mail processing, buildings, and building equipment, customer service and delivery equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on simple control circuitry, bearings, chains, sprockets, motors, belts, and belting, and other moving parts of wearing surfaces of equipment. Assembles, installs, replaces, repairs, modifies and adjusts all types of small operations equipment such as building service equipment, mail handling equipment and related equipment.
